The Special Olympics 2007 World Games
Oakville is extremely proud to have sent two athletes and one coach to the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Shanghai China!
To say that these two amazing athletes had a successful competetion would be a vast understatement. They both placed on the podium in all of their events! We congratulate our athletes on their excellent performance.
Jason Walker, a resident of Brampton has been participating in the Oakville Ten Pin club, In the Pocket, since he qualified to represent Ontario at the 2006 National Games. All his hard work and bowling above his average earned him a spot on the Canadian team, finishing 6th out of 96 athletes in Canada. This accomplishment came with a large commitment to continue his training and work with his training coaches at least three times a week. Jason has risen to the challenge!

Emily Boycott, a resident of Acton, and a founding member of the Oakville Butterflies Rhythmic Gymnastics club. Emily is one of very few Canadian athletes in this sport competing at level 4, which is currently the highest level.

Debbie Boycott is the head coach of the Oakville Butterflies and is in Shanghai as an assistant coach for Rhythmic Gymnastics Team Canada.
